Overview
SplitPlay is developed by MadeSteady. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the SplitPlay app collects, uses, and protects your information.
SplitPlay collects only the minimum data needed to provide group sports organization and cost-splitting features. We never sell your personal information.
Information We Collect
To provide our group sports management service, SplitPlay collects:
- Account Information: Your name and email address when you sign in with Google or Apple
- Profile Information: Display name and optional profile photo
- Group Data: Groups you create or join, member information, and group settings
- Game Data: Scheduled games, RSVPs, venues, and payment records
- Device Tokens: Push notification tokens for delivering real-time updates
- Usage and Device Information: Actions you take in the app (such as creating a game or an RSVP), the app version, and your device platform and OS version, used for analytics, support, and audit history
- Link Source: If you install or open SplitPlay from a shared match link, we record which link brought you, so we can count how many new scorers come from shared links. On Android, this uses the Google Play install referrer.
Scoring Without an Account
You can score a match without signing in. SplitPlay then creates an anonymous account with no name or email, so your matches can be saved. If you later sign in with Google or Apple, your matches move to that account. An anonymous account with no matches is deleted after 30 days.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- Authenticate your account and manage your profile
- Enable group creation, game scheduling, and RSVP tracking
- Calculate and track cost splits among group members
- Send push notifications about games, RSVPs, and payments
- Display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob
Data Storage
SplitPlay uses Supabase (hosted on AWS) to store your account and group data securely. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Your data is stored in accordance with industry-standard security practices including row-level security policies.
Third-Party Services
SplitPlay uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Cloud database and authentication. Supabase Privacy Policy
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: Push notification delivery. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: Aggregate usage analytics and crash reporting (app version, OS version, device model). Firebase Privacy Policy
- Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple: Secure authentication without storing your password
- Google AdMob: Displays advertisements. Google may collect device information and advertising identifiers. Google Privacy Policy
Authentication
SplitPlay uses Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple for authentication. We do not store your password. We only receive your name, email address, and a unique identifier from these services.
Advertising
SplitPlay displays ads through Google AdMob, which may use cookies and device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) to show, measure and personalize ads. You control this as follows:
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: before SplitPlay requests any ad, it shows Google's consent message. You can choose "Consent", "Do not consent" or "Manage options".
- Change your choice: in the app, open Settings and tap "Privacy Choices". This option shows where the consent message applies.
- iPhone and iPad: SplitPlay asks for permission to track (App Tracking Transparency). If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your advertising identifier is not used. You can change this in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
- Paid plans: some paid plans remove ads.
Data Sharing
Your group data (name, RSVP status, payment status) is shared with other members of the same group. This is necessary for the app's core functionality. We do not share your data with any other third parties beyond the services listed above.
Live match links: if you share a live link for a match, anyone with the link can see that match: the team and player names, the score and the scorecard. Search engines are asked not to list these pages. You can turn a link off at any time with "Stop sharing", and the link then stops working for everyone.
Data Deletion
You can delete your data by:
- Leaving groups you no longer want to participate in
- Deleting your account through the app settings
- Contacting us at [email protected] to request full data deletion
When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted. Anonymized usage records (actions and timestamps with no link to your identity) may be retained for aggregate statistics.
Children's Privacy
SplitPlay is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
